We have tried numerous times to obtain the Covid-19 vaccination through the Indian River County Health Department system without success and much stress and frustration. After one attempt, I was able to get a vaccine appointment through the Publix system. Their system schedules you for the initial vaccination AND the required booster shot 4 weeks later. I will have to travel down to Martin country for these appointments.
At this time, Publix requires that you are a Florida resident, and 65 years or older.
If you would like me to give you details of how the Publix system works, let me know and I’ll contact you.
If you have ever been a patient at Indian River Memorial Hospital (Now Cleveland Clinic) make sure you sign up for their MyChart program.
Cleveland Clinic has had vaccines for 65 and older and they will notify you when they have additional vaccines available. I just signed up for this and I’m not sure how it works. They do require you to have an appointment and you make appointments through their MyChart program.
It can’t be any worse than the Indian River County fairgrounds fiasco. More on than later.
Let me know how you make out.
But not in Indian River County!!
Publix is providing Covid-19 vaccinations in the state of Florida. BUT NOT IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY.
When I spoke with Publix Corporate, they told me that they did not know when IRC Publix will have the vaccine and they also told me that the Florida Department of Health is making the decision as to when Publix in Indian River will receive the vaccine. When I looked at the list of counties where the vaccine was available at Publix, I could not see a “rhyme or reason” to their choices.
Covid Vaccine Florida
If you have a lot of time, try to talk with someone at the Florida Department of Health, 850 245-4444 and let them know we exists. Maybe it’s the squeaky wheel syndrome. If so, tell all of your friends.
Let me know if you find out anything.
