This blog’s topic was changed in March of 2020 in order to provide a community resource for the Coronavirus crisis.
his blog was launched in February of 2018 as a community for people interested in boats and boating.
Yes, the star of this blog is a sailboat, but consider first and foremost, it is a boat, then a sailboat, and all boats have a lot in common. If you are interested in boats, learning, and sharing, then you’ll feel right at home here.
This all started as a kid when after Cub scouts, Boy scouts, came the Sea Scouts. Then as a young adult there were four years at sea in the United States Coast Guard aboard search and rescue ships where most of our time was spent at sea. Next, after some schooling and a job, was the “first boat” ownership experience and boating on the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay with summers in the Virgin Islands. (Teachers have the summers off 😀) The next phase found us moving/sailing from the Washington, DC area to Vero Beach, Florida where we have ready access to the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Our present phase is called Retirement and “Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.”
